At Greenwork we care about the environment and the impact that our business does to it. Our aim is to do our best to reduce and manage our impact on the planet while providing the most efficient and reliable service in Auckland.
Right now, we are taking small but practical steps to reduce our environmental impact:
Organic sprays : These are better for the soil, the waterways and our bodies.Glysophate, the active ingredient in most non-organic herbicides is a known carcinogen - when used in residential areas it quickly ends up in the stormwater drains and has terrible effects on marine life and bird life.
Option of hand tools: We dont mind using pushmowers, rakes and brooms! It's nice to work without noisy machines and to have a break from petrol exhaust fumes. Just let us know that this is what you would prefer.
Electronic Invoicing and marketing: We encourage our customers to recieve and pay invoices online. This saves trees and a trip to the bank! Eventually we aim to be paperless.
Sustainably Sourced Timber: We aim to use only FSC certified timber and where possible we will use recycled timber. Find out more about the Forestry Stewardship Council here.
Compost of Greenwaste: Ideally, greenwaste is mulched or composted onsite. However, where this is not an option, we use We Compost that transfer our greenwaste for composting, we beleive that composting is the way of the future and helps reduce how much green waste goes to land fill each year.
Regular servicing of vehicles and equipment: Keeping our vehicles and equipment well serviced means that they will run more efficiently and they will last longer!
Weekly meetings via Skype: This saves fuel and also reduces travel time.
Careful route planning and logistics: We make sure that we plan the optimal route between jobs to reduce travel time and fuel costs. A little extra time spent planning will make significant reductions to our emissions.
